Amber weather warning for wind issued |

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for wind which covers a large part of the Scottish Borders. Key information More information Underlying yellow weather warnings which split the region also remain in place. The first comes into effect at 5pm today, running until 7am tomorrow. This covers the vast majority of the amber warning area. The second, more northerly yellow warning, runs from 6pm tonight to 12noon tomorrow. Travel advice Due to the high risk of disruption, Police Scotland has issued travel advice, asking road users to consider if they really need to travel during adverse weather and urging people to consider delaying travel until conditions improve. Reporting issues Scottish Borders Council's normal out of hours contact arrangements (01896 752111) will be in place and will be the point of contact for weather-related issues. In an emergency, call 999. Updates The severe weather webpage on the Council’s website has been made live, with relevant information and advice added. This will be used to provide updates through this evening and on Sunday morning, along with the Council’s social media channels. Further SB Alert messages will also be issued as required. | ||
