Latest on weather warnings for weekend

The Met Office has issued a further update to one of the two weather warnings which cover the Borders this weekend, with an increased risk of impacts from strong winds.

Due to uncertainty on the exact track of Storm Dave and the location of the strongest winds, there remains the potential for warnings to be escalated further.

Please keep up with the weather forecast and be prepared for high winds, including securing loose objects in your gardens.

Warning 1 - covering Peebles, Galashiels, Duns and Eyemouth

Yellow weather warning for wind in place from 6pm Saturday to 12noon on Sunday

Warning covers area north of a line from Tweedsmuir to Berwick-upon-Tweed

Gusts of up to 60mph possible across the warning area

Exposed areas may experience gusts of up to 70mph, with a slight chance of very strong gusts of up to 90mph possible in exposed areas for a time

Risk of travel disruption, power cuts and damage to buildings

Warning 2 - covering Selkirk, Jedburgh, Hawick Kelso, Coldstream (updated)

Yellow weather warning for wind in place from 5pm Saturday to 7am Sunday

Peak gusts of up to 60mph possible widely

Exposed locations could see gusts of up to 70mph, but there is a small chance of gusts of up to 80mph briefly

With increasing wind speeds in this warning area the risk of travel disruption, power cuts and property damage has increased compared to the previous warning.

If you are travelling outside the region at the weekend, please note that the warning areas extend north and south of the Borders.
