Update on the Met Office Amber weather warning today (3 August) for the Scottish Borders for wind which may bring disruption on Monday 4 August.
The AMBER warning covers northern parts of the Scottish Borders running across the region covering Lauder and Peebles and possibly Greenlaw between 10am to 10pm on Monday 4 August. The underlying YELLOW warning remains in place covering the entire Scottish Borders valid from 6am to 12midnight on Monday 4 August. Key information: Further Details Storm Floris will bring a spell of unusually strong west or northwesterly winds to much of Scotland during Monday.
AMBER WARNING – gusts of 50 to 70 mph are expected for many parts, and are likely to reach 80 to 90 mph on some exposed coasts, hills and bridges. Western coastal areas will see the highest gusts between late morning and early afternoon, the strongest winds then transferring to northeastern Scotland by late afternoon/early evening.
