Yellow weather warning for rain


The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain which covers the Scottish Borders during the weekend.

Key information

  • Warning runs from 4pm on Saturday until 12noon on Sunday
  • Warning area covers the whole of the Scottish Borders
  • Heavy rain and thunderstorms possible
  • 20-30mm of rain likely, but some locations could see up to 75mm in just a few hours
  • Most significant rainfall expected on Sunday
  • Risk of flooding and transport disruption
  • Be prepared for rain and flooding
  • For those travelling outwith the area this weekend, please note this warning extends northwards through central and eastern Scotland, as far north as Aviemore and Aberdeen. 

    A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is also in place immediately south of the border and which covers most of England. This runs from midnight tonight until 9pm on Saturday, with a risk of torrential rain in places.
