Adverse weather warning update


A red weather warning for wind remains in place for a large area of the Borders which highlights very dangerous conditions, including danger to life and significant disruption. Peak gusts of 80-90mph are expected widely.

The warning is in place until 5pm Friday 24 January. 

 

The Met Office advice is when a red weather warning is issued, people should not travel at all, if possible, and stay safe.

Police Scotland have also issued a do not travel warning.

An amber weather warning for wind covers the whole of the Scottish Borders through to 9pm on Friday 24 January, with wind speeds of up to 70mph likely across those areas not covered by the red warning.
