Further weather warnings issued


Two further weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office today. The following sets out the warnings in place over the coming days.

Today (Thursday):

  • Yellow weather warning for snow and ice
  • Valid from 12noon today to 10am on Friday
  • Covers whole of the region
  • Wintry showers possible through afternoon
  • Temperatures will drop through evening and overnight with risk of ice on untreated surfaces
  • Saturday

  • Yellow weather warning for wind
  • Valid from 5am to 7pm on Saturday
  • Covers north east edge of the area and down the east coast
  • Gusts of up to 70mph possible in coastal areas
  • Saturday/Sunday

  • Yellow weather warning for rain and snow
  • Valid from 4am on Saturday to 9am on Sunday
  • Covers whole of the region
  • Snow likely on higher ground, but could also affect low lying areas
  • 5-10cm possible at low levels, with 10-20cm possible on ground above 150m, and as much as 20-40cm above 300m
  • 20-40mm of rain forecast for Saturday night
  • Risk of travel disruption and flooding
