The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind for Sunday and into Monday. Key information: Warning covers almost the whole of the Scottish BordersWarning runs from 3am on Sunday to 12noon on MondayGusts of up to 65mph expected widelyRisk of gusts up to 80mph in exposed areasBe prepared for high windsMore information: A map of the warning area and full details can be found on the Met Office website. Updates to the warning are likely. Initially a period of strong south to southeasterly winds will likely develop through Sunday morning, with gusts of 50-60 mph possible in some inland areas, especially Northern Ireland and western Scotland, and perhaps up to 60-70 mph along exposed coasts and hills. Winds will then likely turn southwesterly, with a period of especially strong winds possible during Sunday afternoon and evening in western Scotland where gusts could potentially reach 70-80 mph in exposed areas, and more generally 55-65 mph in other parts of the warning area. These strong winds in conjunction with high spring tides may cause some disruption. Updates will be provided as required. |
