Yellow weather warning for rain


The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain which covers some south-western parts of the Scottish Borders.

Key information

  • Warning in place from 9pm tonight to 9am tomorrow morning
  • Warning covers an area south and west of Hawick, including Newcastleton, Ettrick, Craik and the A7 to Langholm. A map can be viewed via the link above
  • 30mm of rain anticipated widely
  • Risk of up to 50mm over high ground
  • Risk of property flooding and travel disruption

    An area of rain spreads north east into south west Scotland during Thursday night, affecting north eastern areas of Scotland early on Friday morning before clearing away east into the North Sea by mid Friday morning. 20-30mm is expected widely across south west Scotland, with some of this heavy rain for a short time with some thunder accompanying the rain. 20mm in 6 hours is a possibility. Over high ground there is a chance of 40-50mm over the whole period.
