The Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men professional cycle race will start in the Scottish Borders on Tuesday 3 September. The start and finish will be in Kelso, with the whole 181.9km route within the Scottish Borders, passing through various communities, including your own.

A double Olympic gold medallist from the Paris games and a two-time World Champion have already been confirmed as being among the 108 riders taking part.

A route map is attached for your information and further details, including race timings and a programme of fringe events and activities, can be found on our website. This international-scale event will attract visitors and provide a significant economic impact for our area. It will also be broadcast live on ITV4 and attract worldwide TV coverage.

The event will run under a rolling road closure, managed by police motorbikes. To ensure the safety of the riders and spectators a small number of temporary traffic restrictions will be in place.

In Greenlaw this includes parking being prohibited between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday 3 September on the:

  • A697 East High Street, Greenlaw – from Marchmont Rd to The Square
  • A697 The Square, Greenlaw – from East High Street to West High Street
  • A697 West High Street, Greenlaw – from The Square to Wester Row

  • The extent of restrictions has been minimised wherever possible, both in respect of length of road covered and the timeframe of the restrictions. Council and Police resources will be in place to check locations covered by restrictions, with vehicle removal arrangements in place as a last resort.

We apologise for any inconvenience and hope that you will support this incredible event on its return to the Scottish Borders.
